Have you ever hurt yourself doing something you’ve done a hundred times without pain, but one day - OUCH! You know, putting your back out while bending over to tie your shoes, pick up laundrey off the floor or reaching for something overhead or down low?
It's normal to wonder what we did differently that one time to cause our pain/injury. In all honesty, you probably did nothing different – and that’s the whole point. A body that is consistently out of alignment that goes through a repetitive compensation/dysfunctional motor pattern will eventually protests and cry out in pain. It's only a matter of time.
In our westernized paradigm of healthcare we are trained to address the pain symptomatically. How? By stopping activity, limiting motion, taking an over-the-counter or prescription pain reliever, massage, manipulation, physical therapy or we just simply tough it out and learn to live with it.
The problem with that thought process is we don’t pause long enough to truly listen to what the body is telling us. We just want to make the pain go away NOW! However, it's usually a short term fix. In order to completely eliminate pain we must identify and fix the underlying root cause of the problem. Start by asking the BIGGER Question.

The good news is that the human body is also hardwired with an innate ability to heal. If we cut our finger, the body immediately begins the process of clean-up and repair. To heal pain caused by postural dysfunction and/or joint misalignment, we can assist this natural process of healing by providing the correct stimulus and demand to a load joint(s).
If you have been going around and around the chronic pain cycle and have the same pain re-occur or get worse over time, perhaps it's time to stop medicatin, manipulating or opt for surgery. Perhaps it's time to listen to the pain. The body talks and asks us to acknowledge the signals and look for the root cause of the problem versus making the symptom.
