Ask a Posture Pro| Bill Murray, The Tipping Point & Postural Therapy

egoscue-minnesota-pain-relief-Over the past few days I've been highlighting social media stories about Posture Alignment Therapy.

I believe that we're is on a collision course with The Tipping Point

The Tipping Point, a social-pop culture concept created by Malcolm Gladwell and made famous by his book of the same name, is surmized by the following statement from Amazon.com

"Little changes can have big effects; when small numbers of people start behaving differently, that behavior can ripple outward until a critical mass or "tipping point" is reached, changing the world."

billmurrayIn February 2011, actor Bill Murray, famous of Caddyshack, Saturday Night Live, and Ghostbusters and US veteran pro golfer D.A. Points won the PGA Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Oscar Gonzalez, director/owner of the Egoscue San Jose Clinic had the unique opportunity of helping Bill work on his Postural Therapy menu of corrective exercises throughout the tournament.

On February 5th, 2011, Oscar posted the following on his Twitter account:

"@BillMurray doing egoscue before each tournament day at last years At &t golf pro am, allowed him to swing and walk the course pain free"

Bill Murray is not new to the Egoscue® scene.  In April 2010, Moviefone interviewed the actor while he was out promoting the movie Get Low (I've seen it, and it's quite charming) at The Tribeca Film Festival.  During the interview Murray demonstrated his new stretching/exercise regimen of choice, Egoscue to the interviewer.

Fast forward a year, and Bill Murray was ready to take on Pebble Beach. The Egoscue San Jose Newsletter posted  Bill Murray's Egoscue Testimonial from the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am not long after.  In it, Oscar Gonzalez writes:

I would like to share with you Bill Murray's Egoscue Testimonial.  I was first introduced to Bill Murray through Paul Schell,  Clinic Director of the Santa Monica Egoscue Clinic.  Paul had been advising a personal trainer, who had been incorporating the Egoscue Method into Bill Murray's training.  Bill had been suffering from a meniscus tear in the left knee and needed it to get better in order to play the 2010 AT&T Golf Pro Am at Pebble Beach. Paul mentioned to Bill that I was at the Monterey Peninsula Country Club during that week, doing therapy classes for the Golf Pro Am participants. That's when I received a call from Bill to work with him.

"That Egoscue is some powerful stuff! Doing it each day before t-time allowed me to swing and walk the golf course, pain free!" ~ Bill Murray

Bill Murray gave me a call to work with him again for the 2011AT&T Golf Pro Am. This time, he came back after having  knee surgery on the left knee and issues on the right hip.  Bill and I met each morning for therapy before t-time and as a result, his scores improved everyday and Bill went on to win the tournament!

Sincerely,

Oscar Gonzales - Clinic Director / Owner
