One of the most appealing aspects of Postural Therapy is its simplicity. I often say “it's so simple it’s profound”.
It is that same simple logic that threads its way through each of the 8 Laws of Physical Health.
You will find the Laws on page 28 in the book Pain Free by Pete Egoscue.
It begins with the following:
"As adaptable as our human design is, our dynamic bodies are subject to the 8 Laws of Physical Health."
As you read you may think to yourself that the concepts are a little too simple to form the basis of any physical discipline, yet in reality we all violate one, some, or all of these laws every day.
For example, "An elevated right shoulder or a rotated left hip is dysfunctional for the simplest reason of all-the right shoulder is supposed to look and act like the left shoulder. They do identical jobs. The same goes for the hips, knees, and ankles. All the components work together- up and down, right to left" - Pete Egoscue
What is surprising to most is that "the more laws we violate, the faster we age and die."
The cumulative effect of these seemingly benign violations results in joint and musculoskeletal pain and decreasing functional capacity.
If you have you been addressing your pain symptoms for months and/or years with little to no improvement, understanding The 8 Laws of Physical Health is the first step in breaking that chronic pain cycle.
